Florida Mother Charged After DUI Crash

Josefina Lopez, a 21-year-old mother from Clermont, Florida, has been arrested following a car accident that left her child trapped in the back seat of her Jeep, which had overturned in a ditch. Witnesses reported that Lopez did not attempt to rescue her child and even told one not to call 911. Upon police arrival, Lopez showed signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol. She has been charged with DUI, child abuse, neglect, and driving on a suspended license, with her bond set at $7,000. The child was taken to the hospital but was unharmed and has since been placed in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families. Lopez is scheduled for arraignment on August 19.
