Boulder Schools on Lockdown as Police Investigate Armed Man Report

On Thursday morning, Fairview High School and Southern Hills Middle School in Boulder were placed on lockdown following a report of a man with a gun nearby. Police responded with a SWAT team and closed roads around the schools, advising the public to avoid the area. After investigation, authorities identified the reported individual as a man wearing a weighted vest and carrying a cell phone, likely causing the mistaken report of a weapon. Despite no active threat being confirmed, the lockdown and a shelter-in-place order remained in effect while police continued to search the area as a precaution. Additional nearby schools were placed on secure status, and drones were used to aid the investigation. Police emphasized that the public should stay away from the schools during the lockdown for safety reasons.
