Uppsala Shooting Leaves Three Dead, Teen Released as Police Arrest Three Men
A 16-year-old previously held in connection with a triple shooting at a hair salon in Uppsala, Sweden, has been released and is no longer considered a suspect, according to prosecutors. Instead, three adult men have been arrested—two on suspicion of incitement to murder and one on suspicion of murder—in the incident that killed three youths aged 15 to 20. The shooting, which occurred in broad daylight, has shocked Sweden and renewed concerns about escalating gang violence, although police have not officially confirmed a gang connection. Media reports suggest that at least one of the victims may have had links to criminal gangs, but this has not been verified by authorities. Uppsala, the location of the shooting, is known as a base for two of Sweden's most notorious gangs, whose leaders are believed to be operating from abroad. The Swedish Prime Minister condemned the act as extremely violent and resembling an execution.
