The Penguin Spin-Off Series Launches This Month

Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Colin Farrell will reprise his role as Oswald 'Oz' Cobb, aka The Penguin, in the upcoming sequel 'The Batman Part II', slated to begin filming in early 2025. The sequel will explore deeper themes of corruption in Gotham, continuing from the first film while also connecting to the HBO series 'The Penguin', which premieres on September 19. The series, set one week after the events of 'The Batman', will showcase Oz's rise in Gotham's criminal underworld, featuring a character study of his complex personality. Farrell's portrayal is expected to blend charm with darker traits as he faces off against other characters like Sofia Falcone, portrayed by Cristin Milioti. The show aims to reflect the brutal reality of Gotham, aligning with Reeves' broader vision for the franchise. The first season will consist of eight episodes, with weekly releases on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
