Chabad of Greater Orlando Celebrates Rosh Hashanah After Fire

In the aftermath of a devastating fire that destroyed the Chabad of Greater Orlando's synagogue, the local Jewish community gathered at a temporary location to observe Rosh Hashanah, a significant holiday marking the Jewish New Year. Rabbi Dovid Dubov expressed gratitude for the space provided in a nearby hotel, where the congregation held ceremonies over four days. The fire, caused by an electrical issue, left the worship center in ruins but allowed the community to reflect on resilience and unity during this time of renewal. Rabbi Shalom Dubov emphasized the importance of prayer for peace, extending hopes for global tranquility beyond just the Jewish community, especially amid rising international tensions. Despite the challenges, discussions are underway for a permanent home for the Chabad, while important religious items, including Torahs, were successfully salvaged. This year's Rosh Hashanah also carries additional significance as it marks the first since the October 7th terror attacks in Israel, prompting reflections on past setbacks.
