Allison Smith Named KETV President and GM

Allison Smith has been appointed as the new president and general manager of KETV, Hearst Television's ABC affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska, after serving as the news director at KCCI in Des Moines since 2018. Smith's career began at KCCI as a news producer, and she has held various roles in Ohio and Pennsylvania before returning to KCCI. Michael J. Hayes, president of Hearst Television, praised her as an accomplished news leader with a strong understanding of the region. Smith, a graduate of Waverly High School and Drake University, has garnered significant recognition, including the 2023 News Director of the Year from Broadcasting & Cable magazine. Her leadership at KCCI resulted in numerous awards, including 16 Iowa Broadcast News Association awards in 2023. She succeeds Shawn Oswald, who has moved to Milwaukee to lead WISN.
