MLS Unveils 2025 All-Star Roster with Messi, Lozano for Liga MX Showdown

Major League Soccer has announced its 26-player roster for the 2025 MLS All-Star Game against Liga MX All-Stars on July 23 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Inter Miami's Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba headline the team, with Messi making his second consecutive All-Star appearance and Alba also voted in by fans, media, and players. Vancouver Whitecaps lead all clubs with four selections—Sebastian Berhalter, Tristan Blackmon, Yohei Takaoka, and Brian White—all making their All-Star debuts. The roster blends experienced veterans like Columbus Crew's Diego Rossi, who has four career All-Star nods, with promising young talents such as Orlando City's Alex Freeman and Real Salt Lake's Diego Luna, many of whom are 24 or younger. Players were selected through a combination of fan, media, and player voting, coach Nico Estévez's picks from Austin FC, and two selections by MLS commissioner Don Garber, including San Diego FC’s Hirving Lozano. The MLS team will seek to avenge last year’s 4-1 defeat to Liga MX in the All-Star Game, looking to leverage a diverse squad representing 16 countries, including a strong presence of U.S. internationals.
