Nottingham Forest Gains Priority in €30m Douglas Luiz Juventus Deal

Nottingham Forest are leading the race to sign Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus, with the club prioritizing a loan deal that could exceed €30 million and include an obligation to buy. Juventus is eager to sell Luiz after a disappointing season with limited starts and disciplinary issues, and Forest's head of football, Edu, benefits from a close relationship with Luiz's agent Kia Joorabchian, which may facilitate the transfer. While Forest have agreed personal terms with Luiz and are keen to bolster their midfield, Juventus is hesitant to let him go until they find a replacement, which could delay the move until late August. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have identified RB Salzburg captain Mads Bidstrup as an alternative target, who could be a more affordable option at around £17 million. The club is also considering other squad reinforcements, including reuniting with winger Adama Traore, showing a broader transfer strategy beyond Luiz. Despite competition from Everton, Saudi clubs, and Fenerbahce, Forest currently hold priority in negotiations for Luiz, reflecting their intent to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
