Ernest Lamar Love, a 41-year-old California barber, has been charged with murder and torture for allegedly beating 6-year-old Chance Crawford to death after the boy wet his pants at a park. Prosecutors allege Love struck Chance with a piece of lumber, poured hydrogen peroxide on his injuries, and forced him to perform physical exercises before taking him to the emergency room unconscious. Surveillance footage showed Love carrying the piece of wood into his barbershop with Chance following behind him just hours before the attack. Doctors discovered severe injuries, including missing flesh on the child's buttocks and brain swelling consistent with violent shaking. Chance's family expressed their devastation, with his father mourning the loss of a son who had just begun first grade. Love has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bond.
