Hickory Hollow Jerky, located in Eufaula, Alabama, is recalling approximately 6,229 pounds of beef and bacon jerky due to production without federal inspection, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The affected products, made between January 19 and August 21, 2024, bear establishment number 'EST. NO. 34550' within the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed across several states including Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, as well as online. The establishment had previously requested to halt federal inspections but continued to use the USDA mark on its products. While there have been no reported illnesses linked to the jerky, consumers are advised to dispose of or return the products to the place of purchase. FSIS is conducting checks to ensure the recall is effectively communicated to consumers. For any concerns, consumers can contact Hickory Hollow Jerky's co-owner, Charles O'Neill.
