Hyundai Metaplant America Opens, Creates 8,500 Jobs in Georgia

The Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) officially opened in Ellabell, Georgia, marking the largest economic development project in the state’s history with a total investment of $12.6 billion. This state-of-the-art facility represents Hyundai's commitment to innovation in electric and hybrid vehicle production, with a current capacity of 300,000 vehicles annually, projected to increase to 500,000. Governor Brian Kemp emphasized the plant's potential to create 8,500 direct jobs and nearly 40,000 indirect jobs across Georgia, already generating over $2.5 billion in investments from suppliers. HMGMA is not only a manufacturing hub but also focuses on cultural training and workforce development, enhancing local employment opportunities. The first vehicle produced at the plant, a Hyundai IONIQ 5, signifies the start of a new era for the company in the U.S. market. Hyundai executives highlighted the plant's role in fostering partnerships with local universities and technical colleges to prepare Georgia's workforce for future manufacturing demands.
