Jacksonville Firefighter Arrested for 27 Winn-Dixie Thefts

Brian Albright, a 51-year-old engineer with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, has been arrested on charges of petit theft after allegedly stealing more than 100 items from three Winn-Dixie stores over 27 separate occasions between March and July 2025. Investigations revealed that Albright deliberately failed to scan certain consumable goods at self-checkout registers, sometimes while on duty and in uniform, with video evidence and receipts supporting the claims. The total estimated value of the stolen items exceeds $750, though an exact amount is unclear due to variable pricing on some products. On one occasion, Albright was reportedly assisted by a minor who handed him items that were not scanned. The case was handled by the Integrity Unit, which investigates criminal allegations against city employees. Albright was booked into Duval County Jail, later released on bond, and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department has yet to comment on any disciplinary measures.
