US CENTCOM Kills Senior ISIS Leader, Sons in Syria Aleppo

U.S. Central Command announced the killing of senior Islamic State commander Dhiya Zawba Muslih al-Hardan and his two adult sons during a raid in the Aleppo region of Syria. The operation, involving U.S.-led coalition forces alongside Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian government units, aimed to neutralize individuals posing threats to U.S. and coalition forces as well as the new Syrian government. Three women and three children present at the site were unharmed in the raid. This strike comes amid a recent U.S. military drawdown in Syria, where forces continue to pursue ISIS terrorists relentlessly. General Michael Kurilla emphasized the commitment to defeating ISIS wherever they operate, highlighting ongoing cooperation with regional partners and allies. The raid reflects growing U.S. ties with the new Syrian government following the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad last year.
