Deepika Kumari Advances to Archery Quarterfinals
Deepika Kumari of India advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's individual archery event at the Paris Olympics 2024 after defeating Germany's Michelle Kroppen 6-4 in the Round of 16. Kumari started strong, winning the first set 27-24, then secured her lead by winning the third set despite losing the fourth. The fifth set ended in a tie, confirming her victory. Earlier, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker narrowly missed a medal, finishing fourth in the women's 25m pistol event after a shoot-off against Hungary's Veronika Major. India has so far won three bronze medals in shooting at the Olympics. Kumari will compete again later in the day against either Suhyeon Nam or Madalina Amaistroaie in the quarterfinals.
