George Harrison's Futurama electric guitar, purchased for £58 in 1959, has sold for a staggering $1.27 million at Julien's Auctions in Nashville, setting a world record for the highest sale of a guitar owned by Harrison. The instrument, significant in the early years of The Beatles, was used in over 324 performances and on their first official recordings. Auction house executive Martin Nolan hailed the sale as a historic moment in rock and roll history. This sale was part of a larger two-day auction featuring over 1,000 items of music memorabilia, including guitars from other legendary musicians. The guitar's previous owner had acquired it in 2019, with an interesting backstory of nearly losing it in a fan competition in 1964.
