Orioles Avoid Four-Game Sweep Over Guardians With 4-3 Win
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Cleveland Guardians 4-3, avoiding a four-game sweep in their series. Orioles' Gunnar Henderson delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning off Guardians reliever Erik Sabrowski, while Charlie Morton pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and striking out seven. Steven Kwan of the Guardians hit his first career multi-homer game with two solo home runs, and Nolan Jones contributed a sacrifice fly. The Guardians took an early lead with a two-run homer by Ramón Laureano, who has been particularly effective against his former team since being released in May 2024. Despite a strong start by Guardians starter Logan Allen, who gave up three runs in the first inning, the Orioles rallied to win, with Gregory Soto securing the save in the ninth inning. The Guardians are currently enjoying a surge in performance, winning 11 of 14 games since July 7.
