Investigation Launched in Kyran Durnin Case

The suspected murder case of eight-year-old Kyran Durnin has been labeled 'extraordinary' by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, who noted that he has never encountered a case like it in his 40-year career. Kyran is presumed dead, with investigators believing he may have died in 2022 at the age of six. A murder investigation was initiated after Kyran and his mother were reported missing on August 30, 2023; his mother has since been located, but Kyran's whereabouts remain unknown. Police are conducting extensive searches at a former family property in Dundalk, Co Louth, where a digger has been employed to examine wasteland behind the house.
