BWXT-Led Joint Venture Secures C$1.2B Annual Canadian Nuclear Labs Contract

BWX Technologies, along with partners Kinectrics, Amentum, and subcontractor Battelle, has been awarded a contract to manage and operate Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) starting September 13, 2025. The contract, valued at approximately 1.2 billion Canadian dollars annually, spans six years with possible performance-based extensions up to 20 years. Under this joint venture, called Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada Inc. (NLPC), Dennis Carr will serve as president and CEO. CNL is recognized as Canada's leading nuclear science and technology organization, focusing on peaceful applications such as clean energy development, nuclear medicine innovations, environmental restoration, decommissioning, waste management, and revitalization of the Chalk River site. BWX Technologies operates multiple Canadian sites with more than 1,800 employees and has emphasized its commitment to supporting Indigenous communities and local stakeholders. The transition period to NLPC management will begin shortly, with an emphasis on collaboration with CNL employees and union leadership.
