Léon Marchand made a strong comeback at the short course World Cup in Shanghai, winning three events and breaking four French records, including a European record in the 200m medley. He clinched victories in the 100m and 200m individual medley on the first two days and finished first in the 400m medley with a new French record of 4:00.03. Although he secured a fourth place in the 200m breaststroke, he still broke the existing French record in that event.
