A Florida inmate, Anthony Romine, escaped from AdventHealth Palm Coast Hospital on July 27 after faking an injury, reportedly due to Deputy Tyrique Harper likely sleeping while guarding him. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office indicated that Harper failed to properly restrain Romine in accordance with policy, leading to the escape and subsequent hospital lockdown. Romine was captured after a seven-hour manhunt, found hiding in foliage near a gas station. Deputy Harper resigned before a formal internal investigation could begin, having been relieved of his duties immediately after the incident.
