Scottish River City Actor Faces June 2026 Rape, Abuse Trial
Scottish actor Iain Robertson, known for his role as Stevie O'Hara in the BBC soap River City, faces eight charges relating to alleged rape and abuse of four different women between 2004 and 2020. The allegations include rape on multiple occasions between 2018 and 2019, as well as accusations of controlling behavior, psychological manipulation, and physical violence such as grabbing by the neck and dragging by the hair. Robertson is also accused of verbally abusing and assaulting another woman, including pouring wine over her, and engaging in threatening and abusive behavior towards others, including persistent unwanted contact and attempts to isolate victims from friends and family. The incidents reportedly occurred at various addresses in Glasgow, including the West End, Southside, and Aberdeenshire. His defense has lodged a special defense of consent for one of the charges. Robertson, a BAFTA-winning actor, had his attendance excused at a recent High Court hearing in Glasgow.
