'Ne Zha 2' Becomes Top-Grossing Animated Film
'Ne Zha 2,' the Chinese animated blockbuster directed by Yang Yu, will be released in an English-language version by A24 and CMC Pictures in theaters across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on August 22. The film, a sequel to the 2019 hit and rooted in Chinese mythology, follows the rebellious demigod Ne Zha as he faces ancient forces threatening humanity. Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh voices Ne Zha's mother in the English cast. 'Ne Zha 2' has surpassed 'Inside Out 2' to become the highest-grossing animated movie ever, earning $2.2 billion globally, with almost all revenue coming from China. The film will be shown in IMAX, 3D, and other premium formats. Its international release is seen as a significant cultural milestone, with Chinese social media expressing widespread excitement.
