Amazon Reveals Third‑Gen Kindle Scribe Lineup
Amazon unveiled a redesigned third‑generation Kindle Scribe lineup with three 11‑inch models: an entry model without a front light ($429.99), a front‑lit standard Scribe ($499.99), and the first color e‑ink Kindle Scribe Colorsoft ($629.99). The devices are about 5.4 mm thin and ~400 g and use a new quad‑core chip, more memory and Oxide display technology to deliver up to 40% faster page turns and lower pen latency (around 12 ms). The updated magnetic, never‑charging pen supports multiple ink and highlighter colors and a shading tool. Hardware refinements include miniaturized front LEDs for a thinner bezel, texture‑molded glass and a rearchitected display stack to reduce parallax; the Colorsoft adds a custom color filter, nitride LEDs and a rendering engine to produce soft colors with weeks of battery life. New software features include natural‑language notebook search, AI summaries, Quick Notes, a Kindle Workspace for PDFs/textbooks, cloud sync with OneDrive/Google Drive and planned Alexa+ conversation integration, plus promotional bundles like three months of Kindle Unlimited. The new Scribes roll out in the U.S. later this year, with the no‑front‑light entry model shipping early next year and wider availability to follow in other markets.
