Nova Gorica, Gorizia Launch European Capital of Culture Celebration

Nova Gorica, Slovenia, and Gorizia, Italy, officially launched their year as European Capitals of Culture with a vibrant cross-border parade, marking the first time a shared urban area has received this honor. The celebration featured over 2,000 participants and is part of the GO! 2025 initiative, which promises more than 1,000 events throughout the year, including concerts, exhibitions, and culinary experiences. Key highlights include the 'March for Europe' art transformation at border crossings in May, the 'Tastes without Borders' culinary festival in September, and a grand closing ceremony in December. The initiative aims to celebrate unity and cultural heritage while promoting the rich history and natural beauty of the region. Both cities are also known for their exceptional wine regions, including the Vipava Valley and Goriška Brda. The festivities are designed to foster a sense of connection and cultural exchange despite historical borders.
