Wareham Woman Arrested for Jail Drug Smuggling

Brittany Hanley, a 32-year-old woman from Wareham, Massachusetts, was arrested for allegedly throwing drugs over the wall of Ash Street Jail in New Bedford to her inmate boyfriend, Ryan Wallace. Over the course of one week, jail security discovered two separate packages containing a total of 84 Suboxone strips and 15 grams of crack cocaine, with plans for a third delivery thwarted by surveillance. Hanley was observed driving around the jail in a rented car, coordinating the drug drops with Wallace via phone. She was arrested after admitting to planning another drop and was found with additional drugs, including 9 grams of fentanyl. Charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy, Hanley was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to return to court on May 20. Wallace is under investigation and has been placed on administrative separation while authorities determine further charges.
