25-Year-Old Killed in Turnpike Road-Rage Shooting

A 25-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a shooting on Florida’s Turnpike near Miami Gardens at about 7:35 p.m., authorities said. Florida Highway Patrol reported shots were fired between a black Cadillac SUV and a silver Hyundai, and the Hyundai later crashed into the Cadillac; northbound lanes were closed for about six hours. Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Kendric Javonne Lesesne, who was pronounced dead at the scene after an off‑duty Biscayne Park police sergeant rendered aid. Investigators believe the incident began as road rage; Miami‑Dade homicide detectives and the Florida Highway Patrol are jointly investigating and have asked the public for help locating suspects and the vehicle that fired the shots. Lesesne’s family said he worked as a longshoreman, had recently moved to Miami, and described the loss as devastating.
