Coogler Says X‑Files Reboot Is Next Project

Ryan Coogler is moving forward with a reboot of The X‑Files and said the series is “immediately next” on his slate as he finishes promoting Sinners. He told Variety and audiences at a Cinespia screening that the project is deeply personal, inspired by his bond with his mother, and that he wants to honor longtime fans while delivering episodes that can be “really f**king scary.” Coogler declined to confirm casting rumors — saying he can “neither confirm nor deny” Danielle Deadwyler’s involvement and remaining noncommittal about Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny — though he has spoken to Anderson and called her “incredible.” The reboot was previously confirmed by original creator Chris Carter. No premiere date has been announced.
