Leica Lux App Adds Greg Williams Artist Look for Pro-Style iPhone Photos

Leica Camera has updated its Lux iPhone app to version 1.7, introducing “Artist Looks,” a new type of filter effect that emulates the style of professional photographers, starting with a look developed in collaboration with British photographer Greg Williams. This first Artist Look is inspired by Kodak Tri-X 400 film, offering black-and-white photos with high contrast, visible grain, and a warm vintage tone that avoids excessive post-processing, emphasizing authenticity and cinematic depth. The update also includes quality-of-life improvements like saving favorite looks and is available to Lux Pro subscribers or users of Leica’s $625 phone grip. Additionally, the Greg Williams look will be integrated into Leica’s Fotos app, allowing users of certain Leica cameras to apply the filter directly or to JPEG files uploaded via Wi-Fi. Leica’s Lux app continues to blend the brand’s signature lens simulations with innovative digital effects, appealing to photographers seeking both classic Leica aesthetics and modern smartphone convenience. Leica has indicated that this Artist Look is just the first in a planned series showcasing different professional photographers’ styles.
