Shreveport Police Arrest Man for July Teen Homicide

Shreveport police arrested Jon Darius Scott, 25, in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Hailey McDonald on July 27. The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. in a shopping center parking lot on North Market Street where multiple vehicles exchanged gunfire, striking McDonald. Initially charged with illegal use of weapons, Scott was later charged with second-degree murder after further investigation. The arrest was made without incident during a search warrant operation with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Police expressed condolences to McDonald's family and thanked federal and local partners for their support in the investigation. Additionally, Shreveport police continue efforts to remove illegal firearms from the streets, recently arresting another individual for weapons and narcotics offenses.
