PR Sreejesh Named Director of Delhi SG Pipers

Indian hockey legend P.R. Sreejesh has retired from competitive play following the Paris Olympics and has been appointed as the Director and mentor for the newly-formed Delhi SG Pipers in the Hockey India League (HIL). Sreejesh, revered as the 'Wall of Indian Hockey', expressed his desire to leave the sport at a high point, having contributed to India's bronze medal success at the Olympics. The HIL, which returns after a seven-year hiatus, will feature eight men's and six women's teams, with matches scheduled from December 28 to February 5. Sreejesh aims to nurture young talent and promote Indian hockey in his new administrative role, working alongside former coach Graham Reid. The player auction for the league is set for October 13-15, 2024, marking a new chapter in Indian hockey's competitive landscape.
