MLS Suspends Miami’s Luis Suarez Three Games for Spitting

Luis Suárez has been suspended by Major League Soccer for three regular-season games following his spitting incident at a member of the Seattle Sounders staff during the Leagues Cup final, where Inter Miami lost 3-0. This suspension is in addition to a prior six-game ban handed down by the Leagues Cup Organizing Committee for future tournament participation. Suárez publicly apologized for his actions, expressing regret for the negative image it projected toward his family and club. Other disciplinary actions included a two-game suspension for Sergio Busquets and the revocation of credentials for Seattle assistant coach Steven Lenhart for the rest of the season. The MLS sanctions will cause Suárez to miss Inter Miami's matches against Charlotte FC, Seattle Sounders, and D.C. United, which could impact the team's standing in the Eastern Conference.
