Akron Lyft Driver Robbed, Carjacked at Gunpoint

A Lyft driver in Akron, Ohio, was robbed at gunpoint around 3:15 a.m. after picking up two men and two women as passengers. One male passenger threatened the driver with a gun and ordered the driver and female passengers out of the Honda Civic before fleeing with the vehicle. Police used street cameras and a cellphone left by a passenger to quickly locate the abandoned car in the 800 block of Kickapoo Avenue, but the suspects remain at large. The suspects are described as two Black men, with one in a red Adidas jacket and the other in a gray sweatshirt and blue face mask. The incident follows another recent violent encounter involving a Lyft driver in Akron, raising ongoing safety concerns for rideshare drivers.
