FSG in Early Talks to Buy Bordeaux Club

Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the American owner of Liverpool FC, is in the early stages of discussions to purchase a majority stake in French football club FC Girondins De Bordeaux. Bordeaux has been financially struggling and risks relegation to the third division without new funding. FSG confirmed their interest but emphasized that any acquisition would maintain Bordeaux's independence and identity, separate from Liverpool. Bordeaux's current owner, Gerard Lopez, has been seeking a buyer due to ongoing financial difficulties since acquiring the club in 2021. Both parties are conducting thorough due diligence to assess the feasibility of the deal. Despite the potential benefits, several issues could still block the acquisition from proceeding.
