Multiple Shootings, Robbery Reported in Chicago Area

Multiple shootings and a gunpoint robbery were reported across Chicago and nearby Madison over the last several days. Early Monday in South Chicago, an unidentified man was fatally shot on the 8300 block of S. Baker Ave around 8:45 a.m. after two people opened fire; he was pronounced dead at the scene and Calumet Area detectives are investigating with no arrests. Late Friday in Uptown, an 18-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head and later died, and a 27-year-old woman was shot in the arm and is listed in good condition; police recovered four guns and no one is in custody. Thursday night in West Garfield Park a 34-year-old man was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds on the 4000 block of W. Wilcox St and later pronounced dead; Area Four detectives are investigating and no arrests have been made. In Madison, a man shot in a parking lot on the 5900 block of Schroeder Rd. was taken to a hospital in stable condition, and in River North a 61-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint near Grand Avenue by four suspects who fled with his belongings; no injuries or arrests were reported in those cases.
