Cochran Leads West Alabama with New Coaching Hires

Scott Cochran, former Alabama Crimson Tide strength and conditioning coach, has been appointed head coach at West Alabama and has recruited former Alabama players Blake Sims and Ronnie Clark to his coaching staff. Sims, who quarterbacked Alabama in 2014 leading them to an SEC title, will serve as the wide receivers coach, praised for his energy and ability to mentor young players. Ronnie Clark, who played as a running back for Alabama from 2014-2018, has been hired as the running backs coach, with Cochran expressing confidence in his ability to enhance player performance. Sims and Clark both bring championship experience from their time at Alabama, where they contributed to multiple national titles. Cochran's new hires are part of his strategy to bolster the West Alabama Tigers, who finished the 2024 season with a 9-2 record. The Cochran era will begin with a game against Fort Valley State University on August 30.
