On the night of August 11-12, a violent clash occurred between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladeshi smugglers in West Bengal's Malda district, where BSF personnel were attacked by armed smugglers attempting to smuggle contraband into Bangladesh. In self-defense, the BSF jawans opened fire, resulting in the death of one smuggler identified as Abdullah from Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh.
