Heat Defeat Hawks 123-114, Advance as No. 8 Seed
The Miami Heat made NBA history by becoming the first No. 10 seed to advance out of the Play-In Tournament, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 123-114 in overtime. Tyler Herro led Miami with 30 points, including crucial three-pointers in overtime, while Davion Mitchell contributed key points in the extra period. The Heat built an early 17-point lead, but Atlanta, led by Trae Young and Onyeka Okongwu, rallied to force overtime before Miami ultimately pulled away. Miami will now face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins provided additional support for the Heat, and the loss ends the Hawks’ season. The victory also allowed the Oklahoma City Thunder to secure Miami’s first-round draft pick.
