NBA Names Castle, Edey, Risacher All-Rookie First Team
Stephon Castle of the San Antonio Spurs was unanimously selected to the 2024-25 NBA All-Rookie First Team and named Rookie of the Year, leading all rookies in points, field goals, steals, and free throws. Castle was the only player to receive first-team votes from all 100 members of the global panel, joining teammates and other top rookies including Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells of the Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards’ Alex Sarr, and Atlanta Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher on the first team. Edey, recognized for his strong rookie season, averaged 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 58% from the field. The second team featured players such as Miami Heat’s Kel’el Ware and Chicago Bulls’ Matas Buzelis. Castle expressed readiness for increased defensive focus on him in the next season and aims for further accolades. Additionally, there has been speculation about Castle as a potential trade asset for teams like the Milwaukee Bucks looking to pair him with stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo.
