Teen Charged with Murder of Chicago Postal Worker
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Octavia Redmond, a 48-year-old postal worker shot on July 19 while on her delivery route in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood. The teenager was arrested in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after being identified through surveillance footage and an anonymous tip, and he is now facing first-degree murder charges in juvenile court. Redmond, remembered fondly by her family and community, died from her injuries shortly after the shooting. Authorities are also investigating potential accomplices in the incident. The arrest follows a separate incident in Michigan, where a man was charged for threatening a postal worker with a knife. The U.S. Postal Service has offered a reward for information leading to further arrests in connection with the case.
