M&S Online Orders Resume After Major Cyberattack
Marks & Spencer has resumed online orders for the first time since a major April cyberattack, with bestselling fashion ranges now available for delivery in England, Scotland, and Wales. The attack, widely attributed to hacking groups including DragonForce and Scattered Spider, forced a suspension of online sales for over six weeks and resulted in the theft of customer data such as names, addresses, and order histories. The incident is expected to cost up to £300 million in profits this year, though insurance and trading actions may offset about half. Analysts estimate a weekly sales loss of £25 million, and standard delivery times remain longer than before the attack. The disruption also affected store stock levels and occurred as part of a broader wave of cyber incidents targeting major UK retailers. CEO Stuart Machin has expressed accountability and a commitment to accelerating IT investments and restoring normal operations.
