Jana Kramer Defends Limited Sunscreen Use on Children Amid Criticism

Jana Kramer, actress and singer, has sparked controversy by revealing on her 'Whine Down' podcast that she does not always put sunscreen on her children, stating that they typically do not burn and expressing concerns about harmful ingredients in sunscreens. She shared that she only applies sunscreen when her kids will be outside for extended periods, such as at the beach, and otherwise refrains from using it, citing her own experience growing up using tanning oils and not burning until a severe sunburn during a trip in her 30s. Kramer acknowledged she expects criticism for her stance but emphasized her belief that the potential harm from sunscreen ingredients may outweigh the risk of sunburn for her children. Her friend Kathryn Woodard expressed a different view, worried about the risks of sunburn and skin cancer, especially for teens prone to tanning. Medical experts generally recommend regular sunscreen use for skin protection, even indoors, but Kramer maintains a more cautious approach to sunscreen ingredients on her kids. Kramer has three children, Jolie, 9, Jace, 6, and Roman, 19 months, and she is married to Alan Russell.
