Woman and Son Sentenced for Husband's Murder

A court in Bulandshahr sentenced a woman, Memwati, and her son, Kapil, to life imprisonment for the murder of her husband, Tejram Singh, in 2019. The motive for the crime was to secure a widow pension and a compassionate appointment for Kapil at a local school. Following the murder, they dismembered Tejram's body and disposed of it in a sugarcane field, falsely claiming he was missing. The truth emerged when stray dogs uncovered parts of the body, leading to their arrest. The court convicted them under sections 302 (murder), 34 (criminal conspiracy), and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the IPC. Each was also fined Rs 55,000 for their actions.
