Mississippi Man Survives Vehicle Crush After Jack Failure, Emergency CPR
A tragic incident in Jones County, Mississippi, resulted in the death of Gary Woodman, 59, after a jack failed while he was working under his vehicle, causing the car to crush him. Emergency responders, including the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Hebron Fire & Rescue, and other agencies, arrived quickly and used a battery-powered rescue spreader to lift the car off Woodman. Deputies immediately began CPR and continued life-saving efforts despite extreme heat and humidity, and the victim was transported first to South Central Regional Medical Center then to Forrest General Hospital, where he was initially stabilized but later died from his injuries. Authorities praised the coordinated and textbook emergency response by multiple agencies, highlighting the intense and collaborative efforts made to save Woodman’s life. The incident occurred at a home on Summerland Road in the Hebron community, and officials extended their prayers and condolences to Woodman’s family and friends. The death was confirmed by the Jones County Coroner on July 20, following the incident on July 19.
