Texas Man Sentenced for Kicking Cat

Donaldvan Williams, a 30-year-old man from Beaumont, Texas, was sentenced to three years and four months in federal prison for animal cruelty after he kicked a cat as if it were a football, an act recorded and shared on social media. The incident occurred on October 15, 2021, and resulted in the cat being propelled 15 to 20 feet into the air. Williams pleaded guilty to animal crushing and aiding and abetting, while his accomplice, Decorius Mire, was previously sentenced to 18 months in prison for recording and sharing the video. Both men were prosecuted under the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act, which prohibits severe harm to animals and the creation of animal crush videos. The case drew attention due to the brutal nature of the act and the subsequent video sharing, raising concerns over animal welfare and cruelty in society. It remains unclear whether the cat survived the incident.
