David Gilmour Working on New Album, Plans Release Within Two Years

David Gilmour, co-founder of Pink Floyd, is actively working on a new solo album following the release of his 2024 record Luck and Strange, his first in nine years. He has revealed in multiple interviews that he is in the early stages of creation, assembling material largely on his own using Pro Tools, and hopes to complete and release the album within the next year or two. Gilmour typically refines his music extensively before entering the studio to collaborate with other musicians, aiming to have a clear vision for the recording process. While he has no plans for an extensive tour like before, he may opt for a limited run of live dates to support the new album, possibly including a residency at the innovative Sphere venue in Las Vegas. To complement his recent tour, Gilmour has released a concert film, Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome, showcasing performances from his 2024 Luck and Strange tour at the historic Circus Maximus venue, which is set for theatrical and IMAX release in September 2025. The film captures not only his music but also the unique atmosphere of performing in a historic site, reflecting his interest in combining music with iconic locations.
