Glen Powell, Judd Apatow Collaborate on Untitled Country Comedy

Universal Pictures is fast-tracking an untitled original comedy starring Glen Powell and directed by Judd Apatow, centering on a country western star whose life spirals out of control. Powell and Apatow are co-writing the script, continuing a collaborative trend seen in Powell's recent projects. The film will be produced by Apatow Productions under Apatow's longstanding deal with Universal, as well as Powell and Dan Cohen through Barnstorm's first-look deal with the studio. Kevin Misher, a longtime Universal collaborator, is also on board as producer through Misher Films. This project marks Powell's second major film with Universal after the success of 'Twisters,' and follows news of Barnstorm producing 'The Natural Order' with Powell set to star. Universal's Senior Executive Vice President of Production Development, Erik Baiers, will oversee the project.
