Full House Stars Recall Saget, Coulier Rivalry for Laughs on Set
Full House stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber recently shared on their How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast that scenes featuring comedians Bob Saget and Dave Coulier were often chaotic because the two would try to out-joke and out-laugh each other, making it difficult to maintain professionalism. Sweetin recalled that when Coulier cracked a joke, Saget would escalate it with something bigger, causing scenes to go off the rails. Despite the silliness, Sweetin noted that the child actors often acted more maturely than the adults and described the show as the best environment to work in. Both Saget and Coulier started their careers in comedy, with Coulier nearly joining Saturday Night Live, and Saget was known for his raunchy stand-up routines before his death in 2022 due to an accidental head injury. The cast fondly remembers their humorous dynamic, with Coulier expressing how much he misses Saget, whom he considered like a brother. Overall, the playful rivalry between Saget and Coulier contributed to a lively and enjoyable atmosphere on set.
