Kenneth Sims, NFL No. 1 Pick, Dies at 65
Kenneth Sims, a standout defensive tackle at the University of Texas and the No. 1 overall pick in the 1982 NFL Draft, passed away at the age of 65 after a brief illness. Sims, who was a consensus All-American and the first Longhorn to receive the Lombardi Award in 1981, left a significant impact on college football with impressive statistics, including 15 career forced fumbles and 29 sacks. He played his entire NFL career with the New England Patriots and was part of the team during Super Bowl XX, although he suffered a broken leg prior to the game.
