Norman Reedus’ Son Arrested in New York Assault Case

Mingus Reedus, son of Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, was arrested and charged with multiple counts including third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing after allegedly assaulting his 33-year-old girlfriend in their Manhattan apartment. Prosecutors claim he punched, choked, and slammed her to the ground, causing visible injuries, while Mingus has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Following his arrest, Mingus made a disturbing statement to reporters, asking, “You want to watch me kill myself?” and insulted a reporter by calling her "ugly." His attorney, Priya Chaudhry, described the incident as a misunderstanding, stating that Mingus ended the relationship and the alleged victim became distressed, taking sleeping pills in a suicide attempt; she also noted the victim has moved out, is not afraid of Mingus, and does not wish to press charges. Mingus was released on his own recognizance without bail, and has been ordered to stay away from the victim. This is not his first legal issue, as he previously pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in a 2021 assault case.
