Enescu Festival 2025 Concludes With 4,000 Artists, Over 200 Events, Boosting Romania's Cultural Presence

The 27th George Enescu International Festival in 2025, curated by Artistic Director Cristian Măcelaru, concluded successfully with over 4,000 artists from 28 countries performing more than 200 concerts across Romania, including Bucharest and Chișinău, and reaching millions worldwide through live broadcasts. The festival, a key cultural brand for Romania and a vital tool for cultural diplomacy, blended tradition with innovation, featuring classical masterpieces alongside contemporary works, immersive digital art experiences, and performances by renowned orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and the National Academy of Santa Cecilia Orchestra. Despite public spending cuts, the festival maintained strong state support, with over 90% of its budget funded by Romania's culture ministry, and has seen growing audiences, including younger generations, expanding its reach through diverse venues and community engagement. Esteemed soloists like Martha Argerich, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet graced the stage, contributing to the festival's international prestige and Romania's rising influence in global classical music.
